I can't help feeling at times, that because most of the discussions here involve herbs and alternatives, that may hold a clue as to why no real progress in modern medicine has been made with this condition. And yet at least a few of us here feel so strongly that we owe how well we feel to those very things. Even the doc who created this board is becoming conspicuous by his absence. Don't get me wrong, we are very grateful to him.

This problem is deep rooted in medical history. There is still a huge barrier to be broken. I recall having a conversation with a young lady doctor once about the subject of medicinal herbs. She was pooh pooing the idea that they could have any value. It wasn't until I pointed out the well known drugs used to treat heart failure, Digitoxin, prepared from the leaves of Digitalis purpurea ( purple foxglove )and digoxin, from the leaves of Digitalis lanata ( white foxglove ) that she conceded that plants are used in modern medicine.
