Be really, really careful about what you do. If you look back over this website, you will see there are only a few saying how wonderful it will be to have the procedure done. And to my knowledge, the ones having it done never reply back. It either means total success or not enough success to brag about. ANd as much as we all want help, I can't believe the guys who find help "forget" us....
Also, mine resulted from a problem with surgery I had. My docs just said more time, more time. I finally got so sick that even putting on a pair of jeans made me sick to my stomach. I could not stand anything brushing my testicle. I was sent to a 2nd opinion doc who told me I had several options. One was a nerve block. (It did help quite a bit but not a cure.) Another was cutting the nerve to my testicle. The other was removing my testicle. He advised against the last two as he said they have less than 50% success rate. He said he would NOT do the surgery himself (He is an acclaimed surgeon in our area.). He said it HAD to be done by a surgeon who did it frequently to give it the best odds possible. He also said that removing the testicle itself would be the same. He has had quite a few paitents who still had pain and a number that the pain moved to the other testicle. He said after I was feeling a little better that he thought I needed to pursue lifestyle changes, etc to get better. I told the surgeon I seemed to be getting better from the herbs/enzymes/etc and he was thrilled and told me to continue. I then found a urologist that had come from Mayo clinic. He told me the exact same thing. He ran blood tests/urine tests/and testoserone tests. He said he felt I should NOT conside the other options as they fail too often and then the pain is usually worse than before with nothing to do. He said this pain is quite common for anything surgery wise in the male equip area. He said if you want a vas done, he makes you read a brochure about the likely hood of continual pain. Then he discusses it and then makes you sign a waiver that you know you may be subjecting yourself to years of pain for a little convenience. These things told me that all this cut here and snip that is not the answer. I was really discouraged at first but with this website and the support of my surgeon, urologist, and my internal med doc I have pretty well gotten thru this. But I went thru about six icky docs until I found the good ones. (This was a job accident so my reg internal med doc was not involved until I got depression.) |
