The drug you are describing also goes by the name of flomax, which several of us here have already tried. I used it for 3 weeks and during that period i had a short amount of relief. So i honestly do not know if it was the drug or it was the normal up and down course of pain that this condition has provided me over the past 10 months. What Tamsulosin actually does is that it causes alpha1 receptors to be blocked, thus relaxing the smoothe muscle in both the prostate and the neck of the bladder. It is generally used for men with prostatic hypertrophy (enlargement) so that they can pass urine more freely.

I mean there is really no clear evidence that this will help the problem we are having here, but it seems logical that if you relax the smoothe muscle down there, maybe it can help with some of the discomfort. Also if you are taking an antibiotic, with a reduced size in prostate from taking tamsulosin, it may be possible for the antibiotic to penetrate more effectively. I think the main problem with this drug are the side effects. Dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, and worst of all to me, dry ejaculations kinda turned me off to this drug. If it works for you, thats great. Hopefully it can help more of us. Im going to try it again in a couple weeks.
