Hello, Doctor:

I know I've had some rotten things to say about the medical profession, based on my miserable experience, but I do appreciate the effort you have made to address these problems by establishing this web site and forum. I hope you don't take my rantings personally.

I wholeheartedly agree that we should be more proactive in publicizing this site. Having spent more than half of my professional life working in public relations (the other half in various editorial pursuits) I think I know a thing or two about how to raise public awareness for a "client."

The news that Rick Pittino has to take a leave of absence because he is suffering from some sort of "urological problem" offers the perfect opportunity to help educate the media. If it were me, I'd find out who is covering this story in the local and sports media and wire services and urge them to link to this site and others that can help educate reporters about how serious urological problems can be.

Remember when the news about Russ Limbaugh's prescription drug problem broke. In the days following those initial revelations there were a bunch of follow-up stories about the growing problem of abuse of prescription drugs, especially Vicodin and Oxycontin, as well as how difficult it is to treat intractible, chronic pain.
