I guess it's one of those questions that no one knows the answer for sure. It could be that your damned if you do and damned if you don't! I remember having a conversation with an Urologist, and when I told him that I was abstaining from intercourse with my wife because I felt it was causing even more pain, he said that I shouldn't because frequent intercourse would help 'flush the bad bugs' out. I knew to the contrary as regards the pain.
As regards sterility, again there appears to be varied opinion among Docs. It didn't in my case and I am very lucky to have two healthy children, although I am affected only on the left side (uni- lateral ).
