I've been in this predicament for close to a year. The pain was really severe at one point but now has dropped to a very low level. Doesn't mean I'm happy in the least. I always thought if things got too out of hand or if I had a minor procedure done like a varicolectomy, there could always be the micro d to save the day. Anyway, I had hip pain also known as flank pain over the past five months but recently has receded. In fear of the worst, I went to a nephrologist to rule out kidney stones or even failure. Had a barrage of tests which all came back negative. Funny thing about being negative all the time. All joking aside, negative is always a good thing. I too have been diagnosed for varicocele, problem is I have a slight dull ache that seems to switch from side to side. It's not a simultaneous but during the course of the day the discomfort will switch places from time to time. And thats precisely what's messing with my mind... Varicoceles are supossed to have pain, if any, in the effected side unless you have bi-lateral collapsing varicies. To answer your question, I've experienced everything you mention and more; fatigue, depression, and a general sense of hopelessness that is accounted for the fact that, in my opinion, nobody is doing much in terms of research. I don't know how much longer I can maintain my level of performance at work, my wife g-d bless her, is the most supportive and loving person but, unfortunately is made to deal with my condition as well. The only glimmer of hope is a urologist who says I have a varicocele, and I'd believe him if it weren't for the pain jumping from side to side. I used to be a very active, fun and adventerous person. That person is gone but I hope someday he'll be back. |
