Edit
I have also found some info which you all may care to hear. Inflammation comes from 7 main causes.
1. Cartilage/Callagen degeneration.
2. Over-acidity and/or ph imbalance.
3. Chronic low grade infections.
4. Immune system imbalance.
5. Overproduction of Cox-2 enzyme and prostoglandins causing hormonal imbalance.
6. Enzyme deficiences.
7. Oxidative stress.

Exactly how many of these we can safely rule out as the cause of EP sufferers is hard to say. At least one though is most likely responsible and the most likely ones I would guess at would be 3 thru 7.

If you think you may be over-acidic eat alkaline foods such as peas, alfalfa, bean sprouts or peaches.
For cause 3 I would say Golden Seal or Cat's Claw as a solution to try.
For 4 echinacea and cat's claw.
For 5 Serrapeptase or serrazyme, making sure the tablets you buy are enterically coated. You can also supplement this with turmeric and ginger.
For 6. Bromelain is the answer. Also papain (from papaya/paw paw fruit) is helpful.
And for 7. Take anti-oxidants like pycnogenol, Vitamins A, C, E and selenium, grape-seed or grape skin extract, CoQ 10 and alpha-lipoic acid.

I addition to the above I think Gamma-linoleic acid from Evening Primrose Oil or Starflower Oil and alpha-linoleic acid from Flaxseed oil, walnut oil, wheat-germ and fish oils are useful.
If these are not enough then Allicin from garlic could also help.
