I think theres a least three official terms that can be used to label pain down there. When its just the testicle thats sore without the epididymis involved it's called Orchitis, (sometimes caused by the mumps infection ). When testicle and epididymis, 'Epididymorchitis' and only epididymis, Epididymitis. I think in practice it is sometimes difficult for the Doc to say if it is only the epididymis and not testis involvement as well.
