Of all the anti-b's I was on, it's hard to say if any worked better than the others, because I never got better until many months after I went off 'em.
I think that in the case of EP, it's vitally important that the anti-b in question have excellent penetration into tissues which, like much of the male reproductive system, don't absorb antibiotics nearly as well as most other tissues in the body. I think that, typically, initial antibiotic courses for EP are not aggressive enough in either dose, choice of antibiotic(s), or duration. Once the sufferer realizes the initial run didn't do the job (which seems rather frequent), the infection has had time to regroup and has been genetically pressured toward antibiotic resistance! |
