I tried both Cipro (10 days) and Levaquin (3 days). Neither seemed to help very much. My initially bout of EP was completely cleared up with 10 days of Sulfameth/Trimeth. Looking back, I don't think 10 days was long enough as the EP came back a month later - that's when I tried the Cipro and Levaquin. Ever since then, the EP has been a problem - going on 10 months now.

When I was in the hospital for an appendectomy, I was on some general antibiotics and noticed that I felt better. After they wore off, the EP pain came back. I told my urologist and he now has me on a 6 week course of Sulfameth/Trimeth. It has been 3 weeks now and I feel so much better! Every now and then, I get a little pain which doesn't last too long. I am trying to limit sex since it makes the scrotum feel itchy and irritated for about a day afterward. I think my problem is congestion in the epididymis, but who can be sure? If the EP pain increases again after I have finished this course of antibiotics, I am going to seek a vasectomy reversal (in case my problem is congestion).
