Had back surgery (anterior, posterior fusion L4-L5, L5-S1) on 10/28/03. A couple days later I noticed pain in my groin. Since then I have seen a urologist, and been diagnosed with epididymitis. A urinalysis came back negative for bacteria. My question is what do you think caused this - the surgery, or the catheter juring surgery? I was on Cipro for six days before the urinalysis. Could that cause a false negative for bacteria, even though swelling and pain remain in left testicule? An ultrasound showed swelling/fluid in sperm cord, but the radiologist could not tell if it was from infection or post-op fluid accumalation. The pain is bad and keeping me in bed, when I should be up walking around after surgery. I also have a lot of pain in my left leg. Is this part of the epididymitis? Or just pain from not walking on it? I have been on Cipro for about ten days and it has not helped. Any idea how long this will last?
