I had chronic epididymitis and so can really empathise with any sufferer as the long-term pain is indescribable. Faced with a third bout, I saw a homeopath as a last resort and have had some dramatic improvement after just one day!

The story...

I developed epididymitis as the result of falling off my bike cycling home from work. I hit the back of my left testicle hard with the point of the saddle, and apart from a couple of days bruising I thought no more of it.

A few weeks later I had what felt like flu, and a few weeks after that the epididymitis symptoms came to the fore. I had a 5-day course of ciprofloxacin plus anti-inflammatory which alleviated the symptoms but was left with a lump the size of a broad bean, which was a thickening of the tail of the epididymis.

A month later I went for a run and then the epididymitis came back with a vengeance. My doctor sent me for an appointment with a consultant who worried me with all sorts of possible causes ranging from cancer to "I haven't got a clue". I had an ultrasound scan, blood and urine tests. All was clear except the urine test showed blood in the urine which indicated an infection. I was put on a 15-day course of ciprofloxacin and anti-inflammatory as before and had plenty of rest. The consultant said that if the antibiotics didn't work then the only other option was surgery. Plus the fact that I felt so ill with the antibiotics, I am not sure if I would ever want to take that particular one again.

Only on the 15th day of antibiotics did the swelling disappear from my testicles, and again was left with a hard lump in the tail of the epididymis. Two weeks later the infection feels as though it is coming back - and seems to be aggravated by sitting at my desk working, or sitting driving for long periods.

Faced with the prospect of surgery I made an appointment with a homeopathic doctor a few days ago. I took two tablets (it is not much point saying which becasue the remedies are specific to the individual)and the broad bean sized lump has shrunk down to about the size of a grain of rice, so there still is something there, however I am more hopeful than ever that I can be rid of this condition.

I hope this helps others, and hope this shows that there is an alternative to long-term courses of aggressive antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin.
