The actual remedy is Aconitum napellus (Monkshood). As I said before, there are a number of remedies that could have been selected, and this was not the first one that came to mind with the homeopath, but she said that she would go away and have a think before prescribing. This remedy is normally prescribed for shocks, so I understand, and I think that it was selected on the grounds that the initial bruising occurred along with the indignation of being knocked off my bike. Added to that I had a further 10 miles to cycle home, and I was in a foul temper!
I must say I was completely astonished with the speed with which the remedy acted, since with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories progress was slow and painful (literally). And yes exercise has seemed to make the symptoms worse so I am itching to get out either running or cycling again soon, before I turn into a blob of lard! p.s. I was also interested in the posting on fennel and fenugreek, that is something I will try as a preventative once I am clear of the current bout. (fenugreek is quite pungent and homeopaths usually tell you keep clear of strong smelling things while taking remedies) p.p.s. this is a fantastic forum. I genuinely hope that these postings help with finding some commonly available (and fast acting) cures. I feel really sorry for those men that have suffered long term, and particularly those that have undergone surgery for a cure. |
