I attended a Chinese herbalist a long time ago. The doctor prescribed a cocktail of raw herbs, the sort you steep in a pan, then boil and drain the resulting liquid off, pour on more water boil again etc. I regard myself as being able to ingest anything, but it was horrible to say the least. I didn't dare taste as I swallowed quickly. It would make Fenugreek/Fennel combo taste like honey in comparison.
Anyway initial results were promising after about a week.On my second visit the combination of herbs was changed and the results weren't so encouraging. After a fortnight I had enough of the horrid medicine + the expense and so I gave up. Thanks for the advice and is something I will keep in mind, though hopefully won't be needed as I haven't been too bad for quite a while now.
