Hi. I am new to your site & have been reading everyones posts. Was hoping someone could shed some light on my situation.

My lover was just diagnosed with Epididymitis yesterday; however the doctor didnt mention anything about staying away from sex, using protection from now on or whether or not I can get infected (keep passing it back to him). He just started taking antibiotics (cipro). We have been having unprotected anal (heavy on the anal), oral & vaginal sex for a little over a year now & neither one of us have any STD's.

I've been researching articles online & it is getting a little confusing. His doctor said that his epididymitis was caused by a trauma to the testicles, combined with age (he is 39), and a weak immune system (he has been suffering with some chest & head colds for awhile now on & off). Let me add in here that he has been riding motorcycles on & off road for decades now & has numerous times hit his testicles on the gas tank & seat. He also has had prior hernia repair surgeries, although none of them were testicular in nature.

In my findings online, I read a few articles that state anal sex could be a cause of epididymitis b/c of E. Coli. I am curious to know if this is what caused it, or maybe all of the factors mentioned above.

So just wondering..is there a way to find out for sure what caused this?
Should we continue to have sex?
Could we continue to have unprotected sex if we both are on antibotics or should we use protection?
Should I go to my doctor for a check up & ask to be put on antibotics the same time as him so we dont keep transfering it back & forth?
