I'm in Indiana so I called Dr. Toth to see if he could recommend a colleague here in the midwest. To my surprise I was able to talk with him for a few minutes. He absolutely blew me away with his questions and insight. I could type for days about his inquiries but instead I will relay a couple of the most important things he told me.
One, I told him that every blood test, prostate exam, urinalysis, and semen anyalysis I've had done has shown nothing abnormal (bacteria counts, etc). His response was basically that if you get the results of these tests within 24 hours there is a HUGE chance the bacteria wouldn't be detectable anyway. He said what HAS to be done is to monitor the fluid sample for at least ten days because the bacteria may only be perceptible after a few days. Almost no urology office monitors samples like this. Second, he said that he had yet to come across a case of EP that wasn't caused by a bacteria. Fellow sufferers -- that's a hell of a lot to chew on, eh? |
