I was a big time distance bicyclist for 3 years before getting this problem. Now most days I dare not ride.
There is at least some connection with bicycling and some of these symptoms. --- numbness and erectile dysfunction are clearly associated with bicycling. One study showed that bicycling policemen (6 hours a day, 5 days a week) had half the number of noctural erections. The damage may be vascular (pudendal arteries) or neural (pudenal nerve). In general, it disappears by not riding, but cure can take many months. --- mountain bicycling is associated with greatly increased testicular cysts. Where we get controversial is the idea that distance bicycling can cause "pudendal nerve entrapment". I don't believe it -- that pudendal nerve entrapment is real, or that bicycling causes it. But I could be wrong. In France it's apparently called "Cyclists Syndrome". Makes ya think. - Charles |
