Guys guys....first understand that linezolid is only used as LAST resort. Its specifically for resistant forms of bacteria, including Enterococcus. Levaquin covers some forms of enterococcus but not all. Vancomycin does not help anything out the gut if taken orally, only if it is taken IV. Another thing to consider is the chance that the sample was contaminated. linezolid should only be taken if multiple tests show its present and other antibiotics such as augmentin, amoxicillin, and ampicilling have not worked. I believe i have E. Faecalis. 10 days of amoxicillin did nothing for my pain.....so i need to get a 2nd culture in a little while and really scrub myself down with a surgical scrub prior to my collection of the sample to prevent contamination.
