Just wanted to mention that I also had several semen cultures come back with Enterococcus faecalis infection (presumed bacterial prostatitis) . I was treated with levaquin twice (penicillin allergy), the first time for 30 days, the second time for 2 weeks, and the infection was never completely eliminated. On the most recent antibiotic go-around, my doctor prescribed zyvox (linolizid). I was able to tolerate it for about 12 days (800mg, 2x/day) until disabling headaches forced me to end the treatment. A follow up semen culture showed that the E. faecalis was still present, but this time, they also picked up klebsiella. The bottom line is, that even 10+ days of linozolid may not be adequate to wipe out the infection. Right now, despite my penicillin allergy, I am considering trying that.
